Starting in July 2018, Google is cracking down on unsecured websites.

Secure websites are important to us at SpyderWeb. Recently, Google has been pushing the importance of secure websites also. Starting in July 2018, Google will be marking ALL non-secure websites as "Not Secure."

Is it that big of a deal?

Yes. First off, privacy. Most websites use forms and visitors on that website fill out the form to get you their information. Usually, this includes a name, phone number, and email, all of which are personal information. This data can be stolen and used for hacking or worse. As a business, you want your customers to feel safe on your site, especially when giving you their information.

Second, since Google is pushing this new web standard, if your website isn't in harmony wth  their requirements, it will be harder to rank higher on search results. Ultimately hurting your SEO. And in today's market, getting and maintaining good SEO isn't easy. (Not sure what exactly SEO is? Contact us!)

So now we know it's important, but what will it look like? How will I be affected?

Here's an example of what the change will look like:
